Recently in UK when the new government took control, it faced a lot of problems and some of them were challanging. In 2008 there was a global recession period occurring, in which the prices of many food items, gas, oil, and other increased at a high pace. (Hoshi, T. And Kashyap, A. K 2004. pp. 3-26). Now many of the countries have recovered their recession, but some are still in process, U.K is one of the countries which are still in process to recover their recession period, therefore there are many conflicts happening between the new government and the people (http://www.personneltoday.com/articles/2007/09/10/42254/which-workers-have-the-right-to-strike.html Retrieved 01, March, 2011).

Many of the people are facing job cuts and some are unable to control the high inflationary rate in their current income. To discuss the current situation about the essential workers strike it is very important to understand what essential worker is? “Essential Workers” are the semi-skilled and unskilled workers employed in all sectors of the economy. Essential workers include retail clerks, restaurant workers; manufacturing line workers, construction trades people, food manufacture workers, hotel service workers, health care aids, and landscape workers. Essential workers are very essential for an economy and they play a major role in establishing a well balanced economy (Baillargeon, J., Wilkinson, G, 1998, P.370). These individuals often work in the jobs that many British do not choose, but which are “essential” to keep the economy and the country growing. They pay taxes and work in the places like factories, restaurants, farms etc, and contribute a lot in the economy in terms of money and their skills.

Strike was observed contrary to the pay scale and the prices of commodity. There are some agreements in U.K, which should be look before walking out for a strike. The concurrence is known as “No- strike agreements” (Hood, Christopher 1998, P.76).
