Introduction

Ben Bernanke is a well known economist who belongs to United States of America. He is the present chairman of American Federal Reserve in the state bank of United States. He is famous for his services in the financial sector of United States because of the strategic dealing with the financial crisis of late 2000s. Federal Reserve Bank of United States is a key institution for the economy of the country. It is formulated in order to maintain financial stability in the country by ensuring the flexibility of currency. Ben Bernanke has consistently provided his services for the smooth working and operations of Federal Reserve in order to strengthen the economic and financial conditions of United States. He has served in the economic sector of United States by providing monetary policies and economic strategies. This paper discusses the life and services of Ben Bernanke in the field of economics and the stabilizing the economy of United States (Pittman, 2009).

History

Ben Bernanke was born in the state of South Carolina in United States. He belongs to a Jewish family. His father was a pharmacist and her mother was a teacher. He had a brother and a sister who were by profession lawyer and administrator respectively. When Ben Bernanke came to an adult age he stated working in a construction of a hospital and at restaurant near the border of the Dillon, an area in the South Carolina state of United States. He worked there as a teenager and supported his college fee by working as a construction worker in teenage. During the 1960s he worked in the local synagogue in the South Carolina state. In the starting of his studies when he wanted to get admitted to the Harvard University, the resistance came because of his Jewish identity and his family was concerned about his beliefs and the loss of identify as a Jewish person. Later, his professor in the college assured his family about the presence Jewish people in the Boston state where he can easily continue his studies along with maintaining his religious beliefs. The early education of Ben Bernanke took place in the J V martin junior high school. He worked as a valedictorian and sued to play saxophone during the band marching in the school. He was curious to learn mathematics and calculus but his elementary school did not provide calculus as a subject to the students. Ben Bernanke learned calculus by himself due to his interest in the field of economics and finance (Abel, 2011).

Work Background

Ben Bernanke started his career as a professor of economics. He taught as a professor of economics during the period 1979 to 1985 in the Stanford graduate business school. He also taught as a visiting faculty professor in the New York state university. After that, he became a tenured professor of economics in the Princeton University.
