Introduction

Since the past few years, the rate of boating accidents is growing with a high rate. There are different examples of boating accidents which have occurred since past few years. The boating accidents have become a serious problem in Louisiana. In Louisiana, the number of boating accidents is increasing with the passing time. Boating safety has become a serious problem in Louisiana these days. The main reason behind such increased rate of boating accidents is the lack of safety measures. As per the forecast, if the proper safety measures are not taken then there is a great chance that the rate of boating accidents will increase with soaring rates. The US Coast Guard has provided some recent statistics of boating accidents in Louisiana for the year 2012. As per these statistics, though the number of boating accidents has decreased from 2011 to 2012, but the number of damages and injuries from boating accidents has tremendously increased (Boat, 90). According to statistics, 70% of victims have also drowned as a result of fatal boating accidents. Another fact is that among these drowning victims, 90% of the victims were not wearing any life jackets. In these accidents of 2011, there were only 14% of the boat operators who have received proper safety instructions for their boat operations. Thus, the main reason behind the boating accidents is lack of safety measures provided to boating operators.

The main problem to be discussed in this paper is to find the major solutions for boating safety which can be helpful in minimizing the number of accidents in Louisiana.
