Introduction

The most complicated growth takes place in the first 5 years of a baby's life. A large number of parents are very much concerned about the development of their children and speculate what they might be expecting in regards to their skills. Common developmental procedure are a method for fathers and mothers to evaluate their children's growth and development to what is considered usual, and to wonder at their baby's incredible growth throughout the first 5 years (Anning et.al, 1999, p. 20).

Parents can follow their baby's development and growth by interacting with and observing them. Even though it is helpful that parents recognize the value of their children's growth, procedures are general since all children and babies grow differently. If a mother is concerned that her baby's growth is noticeably delayed, it is the best to discuss with the baby's paediatrician. From time to time developmental impediments can indicate an original problem that may need treatment. The sooner those parents are conscious about key problems, the earlier those issues can be concentrated on (Lucy et.al, 2004, p. 177).

Linguistic and Physical Milestones

According to the Child Development Institute, at time of birth, children sleep about twenty hours per day and take 5 to 8 meals each day. By six months nearly all babies roll, babble, coo and can manage the movements of arms and head. Mothers can assist their children build up skills by conversation to them frequently and permitting them time on their tummies and tummy time offers them the chance to use their neck muscles and arm when they drive themselves up. From six to eighteen months almost all children start walking and can copy sounds and go behind easy commands. By age three, most babies are able to ride a bike, use short sentences and use crayons. This is a perfect time for mothers and fathers to introduce crafts and arts to aid their kids to build up a sense of creativeness. By the age of five years, a baby has grown-up motor control, utilizes basic grammar, and can uniform himself and be acquainted with more than 2,000 words (Gettinger et.al, 2007, p.211).

Emotional Milestones

Having just newly entered the world, infants often experience insecure and worried in their new surroundings. With human experience and time they turn out to be able to experience a mixture of emotions. By six months nearly all children take pleasure in being cuddled, and demonstrate specific connection to the mother by nine months. At the age of one year, toddlers build up curiosity and are fond of to discover their environment though they are usually afraid of strangers and get worried when alienated from their mothers (Freeman, 2009, p. 367).
