Clinical Problem at Workplace



Introduction

The mental health problems at work are rooted in a set of factors that may be related to the organization and the workplace. The repetitive and monotonous work, disruption of reporting relationships, burnout in the helping relationship, disruption of horizontal relationships, the consequences of working in situations of danger and suffering psycho-organic are all work-related risk factors that threaten the physical and mental health in the workplace (Richard, 2010).

Discussion

The impact on mental health work situations at risk described above depends on some variables related to the individual. Personal circumstances such as death of a loved one, the presence of a gravely ill at home, a separation or divorce are all examples of challenging life experiences for the individual. In these examples, it is necessary to add elements of vulnerability related to individual characteristics like age, health status, personality and gender as may affect the nature and size of events related to certain psychological work situations. Similarly, the nature and strength of personal strategies for coping with stressful events reflect the intensity of the efforts of the individual to control, reduce or tolerate the demands of the environment. Among these strategies, some may be effective in reducing the negative effects of workplace mental health. The ability to communicate and assert their needs, the use of a social support network and the adoption of healthy lifestyles are examples. Other behaviors, such as drug, alcohol and drugs may represent ineffective coping strategies. After a survey designed to locate the origin of mental health problems at work and identify the importance of workplace mental health of an individual, it is now possible to state that the work environment is a major determinant of mental health of a person and it is causing a significant portion of the so-called civilization diseases. ...
