Approach towards Rape

Introduction

Rape-Definition

Whenever we listen to the word rape the first thing that comes to mind is something negative. It is a forceful attempt to sexually abuse an individual maybe male or female. In the US the definition of rape is “criminal sexual conduct in the first degree” (www.family.jrank.org). It can also be defined as the sexual contact which is committed without the other person's consent. The person who is being raped can be under the effect of some drugs hence impaired to react and retaliate. There are three states in which if a person attempts to have sex forcibly then that situation can be reported as a rape. Either the victim is mentally impaired, physically disable or made disable by use of drugs /alcohol and/or if the person is unconscious or asleep.

One of the most crucial things about rape is consent. Sexual activity between two people or a group of people is only legal when all parties/people involved are in agreement. If any of the persons involved in this activity are not in with their will then that is a crime and is termed as rape. If there was an attempt of rape and the penetration didn't occur then the definition of rape varies from country to country's law (www.family.jrank.org). But it is for sure that if a person goes through physical/sexual assault, the trauma is the same as going through a forceful attempt of sex. It is not necessary that if you have had sex with somebody before than it is normal to it the next time without permission. Rape is a crime which can be committed between a husband and wife as well. There is a huge discussion on child assault small children of all ages go through this physical, mental and psychological torture all over the world.

It is very difficult for the kids to confessor disclose as to what has been happening with them and who the culprit is. In case of homosexual/lesbian rape attempts there are different rules and regulations in different societies. As being a homosexuals is a crime in itself for a lot of cultures and religions, while others might look at it in a different perspective. If the victim of a rape incident wants to report the incident to police he/she has all the rights to do so. And if he/she wants to confess it to either friends or family and thinks that it will be of more comfort to him/her then that is also a good solution. The best thing for a victim to do is to first of all comfort them, because ...
