Contemporary Environmental Issues

Introduction

The study is related to the contemporary environmental issues in context of production and consumption habits of humans. A natural resource is something such as a forest, a mineral depostit, or freshwater that is found in nature and is necessary or useful to us as humans. There are a couple of different aspects of natural resources. In addition to this, the environment manifests global, increasingly, further deterioration due to indiscriminate use of resources and insufficient natural attention generally given to the solution of the negative effects this has on living things, including human populations.

Examples: Production Habits, Humans and Material Resources

In context of production habits of humans and material resources, the market for recyclables has hit rock bottom over the past few years. Since recyclables are the beginning of the manufacturing process, the economy has affected our ability to get funds from our recycling output. We have what we call PET bottles they are used among other things to produce polyester textile fibers, with which sweaters and tee-shirts are made, and also carpets and stuffing for mattresses, for example 27 PET bottles = 1 sweater.

Scientific-Technical Revolution, which is necessary for human progress, with advances in the industry, the agriculture and medicine, among others, led to changes in living conditions and health of the people, manifested in increased population of the earth in various regions of the planet. Moreover, one production habit humans have related to material resources is the production of new housing. Various past researches went into detail of the effects of “sprawl”, and how this sprawl is affecting the environment around us. Sprawl is basically the expansion of cities into non urban areas of the land surrounding these cities (Slattery, 2009). With Sprawl we are seeing more types of land, water, and air pollutions due to ...
