Crime Scene Investigator

Introduction

This paper is based on the case related to homicide, in which a victim has been murdered. In this paper, we have to answer the questions depending on the case scenario on the basis of Evidence Collection Guidelines. There are several evidences found at the crime spot, what investigator will do that he will take the photograph of each and every object around the body.

Evidence Recovery

Recovering Dried Blood

If the blood is on some object like clothes, then the investigator can easily carry that product with him top the lab, but with the case of blood stain that is dried on the floor, investigator will immediately cover with plastic or paper along with the help of tape in order to save it from contaminating. When investigator wants to recover it then he will scrape the blood from the floor on clean paper, which can easily be folded and kept into an envelope, by using freshly washed tool like knife or any other similar object. One important thing, do not mix two stains, always keep each stain separately.

Recovering Handgun

Recovering solid product from the crime scene require a little caution. Investigator will use clean plastic gloves and pick the handgun from that place. The gun will kept in the plastic bag for future lab tests.

Recovering Shell Casings

In order to recover the shell casing, the investigator will pick shell and keep them in separate bags. These shells will help in understanding the scenario more properly. More often, time there is a chance that the shells that are found at the crime scene are different from the gun shell. This raises the chance for tracing the murderer.

Recovering Hairs from Victim's Hand

In order to recover hair from the victim, the investigator will put the hair in envelop using forceps, and then keep envelop save in the plastic bag with labeling and then transport it to the lab for extensive tests (De Forest, 2001).

Tools Use to Recover the Evidence

Different tools are used in recovering the evidence depending on the scenario. Main tools that are used are the sketches, handwritten notes, video recordings, audio recordings, photography, gloves, and tool box and dust powder. These are some of the main type of tools that are used in scenarios, but still there are different tools that are used.

Packing the Evidence for Safekeeping and Transportation

Evidence in a crime scene can take several forms. Therefore, you can easily move objects or touch an object without realizing that you are destroying a potential index of the solution of a crime.

The crime scene investigators are aware of the standard procedures involved in finding a crime scene to keep them intact for the interpretation and analysis.
