Introduction

In this paper, we are going to analyze the book entitled “Visions for Change Crime and Justice in the 25th Century.” This is the fifth edition in the series of books by Roslyn Muraskin, & Albert R. Roberts. The collection of readings in this series, and particularly in this updated edition, the authors have provided a thorough overview, an in-depth analysis and a matchless assessment of current practices, policies and the issues pertaining to the field of criminal justice in the contemporary world. The book presents a wide range of topics such as gender, race, terrorism, gangs, crime victims, war on drugs, correctional issues as well as computer-based technologies. The authors have excellently linked the past, the present and the future of criminal justice in and the issues faced by the area today are discussed as to how they impact the system. Moreover, the book sheds light on the challenges that lie ahead and their foresights of solving these issues in the upcoming century.

It has been widely acknowledged that the field of criminal justice has seen the courts to administer justice. The challenges pertaining to crime that the twenty-first century faces is as grave and significant as they were in the previous centuries. Today, the area of criminal justice and criminology has become increasingly important because of the technological advancement which transformed the world into a global village. The attributions of the crime scenario have altered across the globe. In this regard, the field of criminology has to tackle this fundamental challenge to amalgamate creativity with extensive research to determine the vision of the future and generate a foresight which can move well outside the status quo. This fifth edition of this book, of Visions for Change: Crime and Justice in the Twenty-First Century is a demonstration of all the changes that are reflective in the upcoming century.

In Chapter 1, the authors talk about the future of criminal justice. The transformations are undeniable today's world, which in once they lose the idea of the state itself and for itself. Today, political and economic changes the need to promote social unity of concepts. This causes the compulsory interdisciplinary reflections, which, in turn, promote changing social standards worldwide. Our responsibility satisfied, a priori, noting the importance of these changes due to the emergence one type of crime than the one studied in the classical schools of criminal law. This particular situation leads to the reflection that the State and current criminal law cannot punish nor reprove this crime properly "modern", thereby requiring a position transnational repression and punishment of this irregular situation.
