The essay discussed the leadership skills and qualities in two devastating events of the past decade The New York 9/11 and Taiwan's Typhoon Morakot. Although, there is no such similarity in these events except destructions, but the essay is the comparison and analysis of the leaders at that time. Rudy Giuliani was the mayor of New York at the time of 9/11, and Ma Ying- jeou was the president of Taiwan. It is natural that when the country, state, or a city is in crises or difficulty people, media, and other working organisations have faith in the Leaders, and they ask their leaders for the support, courage, and sympathy. Leader of the time can control the emotional situations of people.

Both the situations are in front of people. The situation of Taiwan and New York were entirely uncertain. The situation became so rigorous that Leaders lack to prove them selves perfect. They tried to represent themselves as remarkable leader. At the time of disaster, it seemed little disappointment and instability. The leader required to provide significant assistance and pathway to all citizens, and working for people relief. The true leadership skills and qualities can only be the judge by how leader perform “under fire”.

Leader has all the control over the citizen, media, and other people attached to the situation. The citizen of the devastated state is dependent on the Leader. The Typhoon Morakot of Taiwan made the President Ma Ying Jeou face political beating. People started comparing Ma's performance with the former vice president Lien Chan's. The comparison made with the earthquake of 1999. President Ma had to face huge criticism. Political and other people criticized that Ma has poor leadership and crises management. President Ma did not take the typhoon seriously and blame the local government for the destruction.

A Leader does not play blame games. He is the one who is responsible for everything happened in the country or state. Critiques believed that Ma should have declared an emergency, and give power to military for control. Victims of the typhoons were angry with the President they did not get any comfort from the president. The situation became so severe that according to the CNN poll results eighty-two percent people want Ma to resign from the presidency. Ma took under pressure, and asked to apology to the public for the failure. The committee sit together and find why the rescue service and other operations were inadequate. The president had to face different controversies for his leadership failure in the disaster. The media promote the situation as "slow, incompetent and uncaring response" that created a bad image in front of the world. The aftermath of Typhoon Morakot was not only the destruction or trauma, but also the criticism and insult of Taiwan President Ma.
