The educators' role is very dynamic and versatile, although, there are rather a number of inconsistent anticipations they face about the functions they should play. This makes the job of educating one of the most demanding and requiring ones. Along with educating in their curriculum locality, the function of a teacher is to foster children's interest and facilitate learning in a affirmative manner. As a result, the teacher has the ascribed roles of mentor or role model, parent, caregiver, counsellor and a motivator, to highlight a few (Komives & Woodard 2003 ). In the humanity, the educator very often, is granted roles, which he does not inevitably accept as true is his. This often proves to be tough for educators, as the teacher has to perform his prescribed roles as well as those that have been ascribed.

In a review I conducted amidst educators at the primary and lesser grade schools, the most recurring inconsistent expectation teachers came across, involved the disciplining of students. As teachers, their job is to correctly educate their students, which means enforcing punishments if necessary. They interpret that both their superiors and the parents expect them to aid in maintaining control and respect amidst the students. They note, although, that when they carry out this duty, parents visit them unexpectedly and give vent to their frustrations at them for doing so. Some parents are sad when educators engage in disciplinary actions towards their progeny and as a outcome, formulate accusations against the educators or the school board. They may even engage in lawsuits against the teacher. One educator at the Yallahs prime School in St. Thomas was very adamant when she commented, (Burke 2008) "I don't care what the students want to do here, all I want to know is that I teach them what I have to!" This she said, after recounting an experience she had with a parent for disciplining her child. According to the parent, the educator did not appear as if she was adept of having a progeny, thus she should not punish any child. Her neighbouring educator was very keen to contribute that because she did penalize her scholars by flogging them, one parent did not hesitate to tell her that she was the reachild why his child was so indisciplined.
