Introduction

Death Penalty is a controversial societal issue in the United States. Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. For even the very wise cannot see all ends (J.R.R. Tolkien). Death Penalty creates discussions on ethnic biases but it does not discourage crimes. This punishment involves the death penalty for the person who has offended serious crimes such as murder of other people. The rate of sentencing death penalty is high in U.S. According to Gallup (2011) about 61 percent of U.S people are agrees with the execution of capital punishment and about 35 percent of people are against it. Death penalty creates a sense of violent behavior because what we can say about violation if a murderer is punished by death penalty. When children get aggressive and do violation, the elders are used to teach them it would not help in anyway to solve the problems. A sensational quote that Helen Prejean says, “The profound moral question is not, "Do they deserve to die?" but "Do we deserve to kill them?"”

Discussion

Moral and ethical issues related to death penalty

It is believed that executing death penalty is morally wrong. The one of the reason behind this is that there is always the risk of execution of innocent people. It is estimated that regularly, at least one innocent person is sentenced to death penalty and even if one person is executed unfairly, it would be the tragedy to the whole humanity. It is creating aggressive debates on discriminations among different races and it is also executing many innocent people. Defendants who do not have enough money to defend them selves are less likely to get justice because they cannot afford to appoint good and experienced lawyer. The poor and lower class people have to rely on eye witnesses and public supports. Moreover, besides the issue of morality, the death penalty is raising the issues of unjustly executions of blacks and the poor. Many opponents of death penalty believe that people from non-whites are discriminated in these cases.

Criticisms on criminals' imprisonments

In my opinion, though the death penalty is to punish the person for its cruel deeds but, it is not the way to give the society the justice for those cruel deeds of the prisoner. The prisoners of death penalty should be used for some noble cause of society. It is also the fact that in many prisons, the criminals, especially the criminals of death penalty are treated in unethical way and in inhuman way with the consideration that these criminals are to dead in near future. Most of the criticisms are there on this issue highlighting various issues in death penalty including the imprisonments' circumstances ...
