Distance Education

Introduction

The Development of new technologies of information and communications has made possible the exchange of ideas, experiences and Knowledge Among millions of human beings. Education is a complex and expensive task for active institutions (Moore, 2005). Distance education has become an alternative to solve this problem. Here are some advantages & disadvantages of this distance learning engineering.

Advantages of distance learning Engineering

After seeing some of the aspects that influence the student's education, the challenges of students at a distance, to more thoroughly analyze what is the e-learning for teaching.

Another significant feature of distance education is its accessibility. Its use allows a large number of people approached, with many possibilities, knowledge, appropriate it, in an interactive process which usually emerges a subject with a degree of theoretical and practical preparation more comprehensive and integrated that allow you to better cope with challenges of their environment. It is then necessary to take into consideration the needs and interests of groups who access this type of learning because the range of opportunities it provides is very wide, however, possibly the most marked feature of distance education is the physical separation of the student-teacher at the time that takes place the development of teaching-learning process. While face to face interactions disappear, it must be emphasized that in all distance education systems do not actually produce an absolute separation between the two components of that pairing, because there will always be so required and necessary, conducting tutorials meetings and two-way interaction, technologically mediated, favoring the appropriation of knowledge, skills and even building; and will establish a bidirectional communication controlled point of feedback.

From the point of view of the institution organized by distance learning is a negligible advantage: in this mode is set to track rigorous student and carried out a formal assessment of their learning, while classroom training monitoring is often limited to monitoring and assessment assistance is made on the trainees and trainers (Gold, 1999).

The most obvious benefit is that virtual education provides students and teachers more time and flexibility in terms of time and travel. While there are strict deadlines for delivering the work, Students have much more time while they have a phone nearby to carry out its task (This adds days or weeks before were lost in transfer) and allows the education is not interrupted as they travel easily.

Some of the advantages of distance education from the aspect of virtual education are:

1) Opening. - Elimination or reduction of barriers to entry-level courses or study.

- Diversification and expansion of course offerings.

- Opportunity of training adapted to current requirements and who, for a very diverse crowd reasons, could not receive the kind of education that now they can do (Allen, 2006). 2) Flexibility. - Lack of rigidity in terms of space requirements (where to study?).

- Combining work and study effectively for many students (especially college students).

- No disruption of students with their professional, cultural and family.

- Training outside the classroom ...
