OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

With the rise of information technology, distributed database systems have become part and parcel of almost all the businesses and enterprises (Osman et al., 2008). However, with the drastic rise in distributed database systems, there is a need to monitor the performance of such systems on regular basis through a proper framework. Keeping this concept in mind, the objective of this thesis is to monitor the performance of a Distributed Database System at organizational level. The study also aims at exploring the benefits of implementing a performance monitoring initiative for Distributed Database System in an organization. Another objective of the study is to present a performance monitoring model that can help to monitor the performance in a better way in comparison to various models that organizations are using currently. With slow response time, the customer's satisfaction is negatively impacted as well as the organization's profitability. Considering this factor, this research topic is selected for assisting the organizations to understand and implement performance monitoring system for Distributed Database in a better way. The study has proven to be a stepping stone for performance monitoring of Distributed Database Systems in organizations and enterprises. On the completion of the study, it has been able to present the benefits of implementing a performance monitoring initiative for Distributed Database System in an organization.
