Problem Statement

This proposal defines the impact of mergers on nurses of the two merger units. The paper gives the description that how the change could be managed in terms of mergers of two different speciality units i.e. eye and dental departments. In order to manage the change, it is necessary for the nurses to get educated in order to keep themselves up to date with the skills, and remain multitalented, versatile adaptable to work both specialties of eye and dental operating departments. In this proposal of change, the nurses would be motivated to adopt the elearning strategies to improve their learning and increase retention power. This proposal of change would be very helpful in implementing the change in the merged units.

Aims and Objectives

The main aim of the proposal for change is to understand the importance of education for nursing to understand the impact of changes occurred because of mergers. This paper focuses on the need that education is very necessary for the nurses to understand the change. In order to teach the nurses, the best way is teaching through the e-learning.

Following are the objectives of the proposal for change:

1) To understand the importance of e-learning.

2) To understand change theories

3) Understand the impact of changes because of mergers.

Theoretical model

The kurt lewin theory of change would be used as the theoretical framework in this proposal of change. The lewin model of change has three basic steps to implement change in the organization. The main three stages are unfreeze, transition and refreeze. This model would be used to implement e-learning in nursing education.

E-learning

E-learning is a very important concept that can help the nurses to get the proper knowledge and education and to keep them up-to-date, competitive, multitalented and versatile. In order to manage the changes that occurred because of the mergers of eye and dental departments, it is necessary to understand its impact on the nurses.

Identifying one agreed upon definition of E-learning may be difficult. When discussing this topic with others, clarity is critical. One instructor may view E-learning as the use of Power Point ®. Another may view E-learning as the use of e-mail. Still another may think that E-learning can only be utilized with purely distance education programs. Clarifying this definition for the survey participants is an important part of this dissertation. For the purpose of this study, E-learning is defined as the use of the Internet to facilitate classroom communications (Aldrich, 2009, p. 12).

Instructors using the Internet can utilize such tools as asynchronous discussions, real-time chat, online testing, and document sharing. These Internet tools may sometimes be referred to as Web-based or Web-supported technology (Rakes, 2006, p. 38).
