Role of Planning, Assessment, and Observation in a Child Care Setting

Introduction

In order to live a happy and contended life it is imperative for an individual to be educated. Education plays an important and integral part in the development of an individual. In our society, the role of education does not get enough importance when it comes to the education and development in of case of toddlers and pre-school children. However, the truth is that the education plays the part of nub for pre-school children for the effective and efficient development. In recent years the education system for the pre-school children has received immense importance and attention from the side of researchers, teachers and educationists. As a result of this immense attention various developments have been taken place and new concepts and methodologies have also been developed. The aim and objective of this paper is to talk about role of planning, assessment and observation in an early childcare setting.

Role of Planning in a Childcare Setting

Working with children is an interesting task but at the same time it also requires immense attention and consideration. Any task that requires attention and consideration can be fulfilled with proper planning. Role of planning in an early childcare setting is of utmost importance. In an early childcare setting the care provider needs to possess the skills to organize and plan things to develop children so that they proceed in their educational journey and develop themselves in a strong and healthy individual. For the development, play and learning of children professionals adopt the tactic of planning. With the help of this factor of planning child care professionals makes efforts and devises strategies to create an appropriate environment and makes the usage of the appropriate material. When the professionals indulge in planning that the purpose of calling the children to the childcare centre should be clear to them. In a childcare centre professional and care provider plan for a number of things. Sometimes they plan activities, sometimes they plan an event, and sometimes they plan games and plays to instil particular skill. No matter what they pan for they should be clear about the objective of it (Evelyn, 2005, 6).

There are different ways through which planning can be done. No matter which approach is adopted by the care provider it must be systematic and must be according to the needs of the child. A copy of the care plan is contained in the personnel file of each child. Children are encouraged to ensure that they also take responsibility for helping themselves, in accordance with the age and intellectual level of the child. Staff are regularly explained and discussed with the child care plan and care for it (HNC Unit, 2006, 1).
