Introduction

Thomas Alva Edison is the great American inventor of all time. He was born on February, 11, 1847 in a small town of Ohio. Among seven siblings, Edison was the youngest one, and he did not learn to talk until the age of four years. He spent almost three months in a school when he was seven years, later on he was home schooled by his mother after three months. It was noticed by Edison's teacher that there is some physical deficiency in the child due to which he is unable to concentrate on the studies (Lark and William, pp. 96). Thomas Alva Edison was not only a scientist but also a businessman. It was his credit to invent and develop such devices that significantly affected all the human being. Thomas Edison died on October, 18, 1931 which is viewed as a major loss of all times in the history of the world.

As far as the creativity in the invention is concerned, Thomas Edison is regarded as the third most creative inventor in the history. There are 1,093 US parents in the name of Thomas Edison. He is recognized for a number of inventions that are regarded as most vital contributions to the fields of mass communications and telecommunications. For instance, these inventions include stock ticker, recorded music, electric car battery, phonograph, light-bulb, and motion picture camera. The initiation of the concept of generating the electric power and its distribution to people, industries and offices, are regarded as the most critical advancement in the industrial world. Manhattan Island in the New York City was the Edison's first power station which will be remembered in history for great technological innovations (Hedstrom and Martinez, pp. 55).

Edison as a hero

Thomas Edison became deaf soon after he started to work on the railroads. There are a number of opinions on what occurred to the renowned inventor. One of these opinions argues that a conductor hit Edison on ears that lead to make Edison a deaf person. Despite of the fact that what happened he was unable to hear from his left ear, and his right ear was nearly eighty percent deaf. When Edison was fourteen years old, he saw a little kid on the railways track. The kid was exposed to the danger, but Edison promptly threw himself and the kid off the railway track. As a reward, the father of that toddler trained Edison to operate a telegraph machine. At the age of sixteen years, Edison was master in this skill and decided to leave the home. He made his way to Boston and got a job there. After one and a half year of job, Edison was ordered to resign from the job due to not paying proper attention to his primary responsibilities.
