Education Platform Statement

Considering the fact that I wish to pursue a teaching career in psychology, I devoted a lot of time to develop a philosophy of teaching and leadership. I also reflected on my learning experience as a student in order to present a complete philosophy. Teaching, philosophy, and leadership are three areas that are of particular interest to me. Therefore, I decided to combine these three areas to present my philosophy. I consider teaching a proper profession since this is the only career where I can use my leadership skills in order to provide my students the best education possible and help them to succeed in life (Beatty, 2000). Another advantage of being a teacher is that unlike working at other organizations where ones performance is hidden among the huge workforce, the qualities of a good teacher are evident from the success rate of the students. When we consider the principal, the same situation applies with him because the future of the institution depends on the way he handles the parents and teachers and his decision making skills.

Philosophy of Education

Educational institutions serve various functions. Out of these functions, the most important should be the provision of a quality learning environment in which every student is given equal attention. It is the responsibility of the educational institute to provide students with good quality personnel's, facilities, and materials. These are important to develop the child emotionally, physically, and intellectually. Demanding such things from an institute is easy, but it is very difficult for them to bear the cost of such a quality service.

Although it is the responsibility if the institute to provide every possible service to its students, it is the principal who has to decide which service should be a priority. The goals of the institute should be realistic and should not be a burden on the schools budget. Local politics, budget limitations, and applicant pools are some thing's educationalists should consider providing its students and staff a friendly and positive environment (Beatty, 2000).

In order to boost the morale of the students and staff, the culture of the school should be designed to promote a positive culture. A leader of a school is different from other leader in a sense that he has to work not only for the school, but for the welfare of the staff and students. He will need to continuously review the performance of the school and the services it provides and make improvements wherever necessary.

Philosophy for Leadership

Teaching is a very different profession compared to other professions. In this profession, it is not possible for the concept of one size fits all to be implemented. Every student has a different mental capacity and studies differently; therefore, a teacher has to cater to the needs of every student.
