Introduction

The generous donation of 10 million dollars must be utilized in the optimum manner. It must be ascertained that maximum benefit, long and short term, should be attained from this opportunity. For this purpose, the Board of Directors has expressed their interest in hiring our firm. We realize the opportunity that we have on our hands and intend to employ our expertise in the effective and beneficial dispersal of the funds. It is absolutely imperative to mention here that our firm will primarily be targeting the long term benefits whilst also optimally catering to the short term goals. The long term goals have been identified as the implementation of ERP (Enterprise resource Planning) and the short term goals have been identified in the form of CRM (Customer Relationship Management). Both concepts shall be explained here in order to clarify the intent and course of the firm.

Customer Relationship is currently the most widely implemented strategy which is aimed primarily at the effective management of an organization's interaction with its customers. This includes existing clients and prospective customers as well. CRM uses automation and systematic synchronization of the business processes in order to cater to functions such as technical support, marketing and the provision of customer services. The ultimate objective of this practice is to secure new customers and clients and serve the existing database as well. Hence, the management of “Customer relationships “is the goal of CRM.

ERP can be viewed as an advanced version of CRM. Although the differences between CRM and ERP are many, we tend to perceive them as variants of each other. ERP uses integration of multiple functions and caters to a wide ranging array of information sharing activities. The primary purpose is to allow information sharing and management in order to serve customers and stakeholders in and out of the perimeter of the business.
