Abstract

Although domestic violence is a significant societal problem, which continues to receive public and private sector attention, intervention and treatment programs have proven inconsistent in their success. This paper reviews the published literature on domestic violence treatment efficacy and post-treatment recidivism and explores the related factors. In addition, challenges in the assessment of domestic violence are briefly discussed. Finally, recent developments are discussed along with their potential benefits, and an appeal is made for the need to study domestic violence in the broader context of family in advanced capitalist society.

RESEARH PROPOSAL: Effect Of Domestic Violence On The State Of Family In Advanced Capitalist Society

Introduction

Domestic violence is a foremost difficulty today. Much of the vigilance paid to domestic violence is in large assess due to the high occurrence and charges to the victims of domestic violence. (Johnson 2005 43-52) Research has proposed that an intimate colleague perpetrates most violence contrary to women. In detail, the number of feminine victims is startlingly high; nearly one quarter of the women reviewed demonstrated that they had been bodily assaulted and/or raped by an intimate colleague in their lifetime. However, the overhead outcomes apparently illustrate that the number of victims of domestic violence varies substantially counting on the kind of review or methodology used. (Graham and Archer 2003 1247-1270)

Prevalence study all through the world needs affirmation over delineations of aggression and misuse and how to assess it. There is a lack of investigations drawn from the general community and of study that inquire young children exactly about maltreatment knowledge, other than relying on mature individual accounts of their own recollections of childhood abuse. In a UK review of the occurrence of child maltreatment undertook 10 years before for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), 16% of the 2869 18-24 year olds consulted had skilled grave maltreatment by parents in their childhoods. (Johnson 2005 43-52) For those juvenile mature individuals who said that throughout childhood they had been neglected, 88% had dwelled with some grade of domestic violence, and for 59% the aggression was unchanging or frequent. For those juvenile mature individuals who described that ...
