Effective Teaching Methods

Learning and teaching are considered to be two sides of coin. The best criteria to assess the teaching methods of a teacher are to check its impact on the student's learning. The students learning more give high ratings to the teachers. The literature about teaching is full of the different methods which could be adopted by the teachers in order to enhance the student's learning. For the effective learning of the students it is necessary that the teachers should take proper care of their students and should get proper understanding of the students. It is the teacher's responsibility to educate the students in an effective manner so that the student can be a responsible and productive individual in society. There are different methods of teaching which have been discussed in this paper in order to enhance the student's learning. The theories which have been discussed in this paper are constructivist learning theory, cooperative learning theory. These theories are mainly based on the learning of students. The different methods of effective teaching used in this paper are learning with different objects, student interactions and graphic interactions.

According to Snowman (2004), “constructivism is that learning theory which emphasizes on the ways through which people acquire knowledge and learn them”. Therefore, this theory can be directly applied to education. As per this theory the human beings construct the knowledge and learning from the experiences which have occurred in their lives. There is a huge impact of Piaget's theory of constructivist learning on the different teaching methods which are applied in education (Snowman, 2004). There are many researchers who support the use of constructivist theory for the educational learning. According to Snowman (2004) “constructivist theory is very helpful in teaching by encouraging and accepting the initiative and autonomy of students. It is also useful theory which helps the teachers in using the raw data and primary sources along with the use of interactive, manipulative and physical materials”. The constructivist theory is mainly based on the description of the constructivist learning environments which is focused on the modern technology (Snowman, 2004). This emphasizes on the ways which can be helpful in enhancing learning through which the students can learn the real-world problems.

Another theory which is helpful in providing effective teaching methods to increase the student's learning is the cooperative learning theory. According to Cooper, (1990), “cooperative learning theory is an offshoot of constructivism. This theory is focused on the idea that the students can achieve the best learning by interacting with each other and getting engaged in the learning process with the help of each other's collaboration”. The theory of constructivism is based on the personal achievements and efforts on the other hand the cooperative theory is based on getting better learning by cooperating and interacting with the other students (Cooper, 1990). Cooper in his article aslso mentions that “Structures must be built into the learning environment to ensure that all members of a cooperative-learning team feel a sense of responsibility ...
