Abstract

The research report is based on the rights of the employee, focusing the employee rights at workplace into focus. The ethical issues faced by the employee and ethical decisions required to be implemented by the organization. The safety of the employee rights and the employers' limitations are widely discussed. The laws favoring the employee rights and changes to be made in the laws have been seen in the following research report.

Introduction

In the United States, there are only certain employee privacy laws that cater to the rights of the employee working in the organization. Most of the laws are in support more of the employer than the employee (Turnbull, 2009).The employer is the owner of the organization that enables him to monitor the workplace. Monitoring not only include the venue of the organization but also its employee each and every action. The privacy rights are implemented to protect the individual from the behavior of others (Hellriegel & Slocum, 2007).The United States' privacy rights are recognized by the Constitution. The federal and the state government provide protection related to privacy intentions. The laws serve people by protecting them from the other individuals, government or family.

The Word “Privacy”

Privacy is the word given by the individuals well to make and keep their certain information confined to within themselves. The exposure of personal information is strictly prohibited. The act of revealing one's personal information to others is against the privacy. For some people, privacy is also termed as the non-interference of other people in the individual's lives (Turnbull& Canadian Privacy Institute, 2009).The issues hindering privacy can be faced by every individual. The phenomena of privacy can occur in every aspect of one's life. For example, the place where one is working, social media websites.

The Workplace Privacy

In a workplace, followed up by rules and regulation, the employers need to access the personal information of the employees. Every kind of being exist in this world and so as every kind of employee exists in the workplace (Greenspan,2007)Some employees do not like the process of employers accessing their personal information. For such a scenario, the employers should develop a process, through which they can access the detail information of the employer but in an ethical way. In certain situations, federal privacy laws do not support accessing of employer's records (Stewart, 1987). The laws are only limited till the personal information of the employee. Privacy laws are entitled to support the employees and the employers working in an organization (Nash & Estreicher, 2010).The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act implemented by the Privacy Act in order to support the employees at the workplace. The Act is referred to the federal government institutions in terms of information of the employee (Alexander Hamilton Institute (U.S.), 1987).
