Introduction

Connection Types

There are two types of networking: the connection point to point and multipoint connection. Point to point: A point to point connection is a connection of two devices with each other and nobody else. For example, a connection of two computers via fiber optic or twisted pair. Multipoint: A multipoint connection uses a single cable to connect more devices. For example, a cable having several devices connected to the same transmission medium, such as coaxial cable.

Bus Topology

The bus topology is a multidrop network topology in which devices are connected to one cable, one after another. In BUS topology, all devices share the same background, then the coaxial cable is for this reason, messages are transmitted through this are seen by all other devices that share it. The bus topology is considered as a road for all vehicles passing (packets or frames) and is limited in distance, depending on the type of cable and connectors used. The connectors are resistors that are used to maintain constant impedance to convey information.
