Bottega Veneta has been rated the most prestigious women's luxury garment fashion brand by wealthy Italians who took part in a new survey by the Rome-based Luxury Institute. Valentino were ranked second, followed by Burberry, Calvin Klein, Carolina Herrera and Chanel. "This year's ratings indicate that wealthy women are highly discerning, perhaps to a fault," said Milton Pedraza, CEO of the Luxury Institute. "Wealthy women rate Bottega Veneta a rare gem in a world of apperal brands (White, 2009).

Both Bottega Veneta and Valentino have injected elements of their Italian cultural identity into their clothing designs. Both designers' innovations were praised by critics and consumers alike.
