Introduction

In the early 1960s, family therapy became an independent area of psychotherapeutic practice. Its formation is associated with the development of communication theory and application of systems theory to explain the problems of human behavior. Gradually, it has become a popular approach to the family as the unit of the psychological impact. In this regard, the identified patient (i.e.| the one on which the family appealed to the consultation) is not seen as a medical patient, but rather as part of a dysfunctional family system. Family therapy involves the possibility of therapeutic support a child or adult patient through his family, in which he fell ill or got all sorts of deviations. Accordingly, the focuses of the work are not intrapsychic problems of family members, and patterns of interactions, structure and processes of the family itself. Thus, the purpose of family therapy is to create conditions for the formation of a functional family organization, which will provide maximum growth potential of each family member.

In spite of the forty-year history, family therapy is a relatively new area of psychotherapeutic practice and continues to develop dynamically. This is especially true for our country, in which psychological help to the family in its infancy. In addition, it is clear that not all the experience of Western specialists to help the family may be transferred without change to the Russian soil. Russian families have their own national circumstances. All this makes the methodological research in the field of systemic family therapy in our country particularly relevant.
