Introduction

Technology is not only essential for Microsoft, Intel, and Google, in fact it has played a very significant role in the fashion industry as well. New technology creates new opportunities to the upcoming fashion industry. It works as the support function for the industry and encourages designers to try modern techniques.

Fashion may be said to have originated in 14th century in Europe. New and innovative styles were set by the Monarchs and then these styles were spread to other parts of the region by description in letters, by travelers, and by exchanging the fashion doll. However, in 19th century Paris became the leading arbiter of fashion. Paris was the place where fashion trends were set for women dresses. Famous designers, such as Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, and Coco Chanel have had fashion houses in Paris. In late 20th century, American fashion designers successfully competed with the Parisian designers.

Technology has brought revolution in all fields including fashion industry. Since the origination of fashion, it has been 'technology' that is responsible for where fashion industry is standing today. In future, fashion production and consumption is going to get greatly impacted by the advancement in technology. The overall garment market today is developing graciously with the increasing trends of styling along with the utility values. However, with regards to technology oriented fashion in future, there have been many innovations such as embroidery software, pattern making software, e-commerce software etc.

The term fashion applies to the prevailing or existing mode of expression. In some cases it is relates to the mode of peculiar expression but it may not apply in all instances. Fashion inherits the idea of quick changes which are responses of environment and culture. Terminologies such as fashionable and unfashionable are employed to describe the expression of the current common mode. Fashion is very frequently treated in the positive connotation and is synonym to glamour and style. It is a form of a communal art through which notation and beauty of culture is demonstrated (Damanpour, p.232).
