Introduction

Giving a background to the understanding of the fieldwork reflection, we need to know what exactly EEL and CLD stands for and what are those integrated skills that are needed to be discussed before any analysis. CLD is “Culturally and Linguistically diverse” is the term which is commonly used and considered in U.S Educational Department which identifies those students that are enrolled belong to various background and have different cultural and linguistic backgrounds (Opitz, M. F, 1998). EEL is “English Language Learners” which elaborates the students who belong to various linguistic backgrounds are being observed by their teachers (Gonzalez, V. & Yawkey, T. D. 1997). In this reflection I have also analyzed one of the student who is a young girl aging 16 years and her name is Lucy. She studies in La Jolla High School; I have been assigned to make a reflection of this child on the weekly basis. I have observed her very closely and derived these basic observations in her; the girl is from Mexico and arrived here in Georgia eight months ago. She speaks only a little English. She is in the stage as children do when learning to speak, they are more silent. She is a girl who keeps herself busy in learning things and stays quiet most of the time. The observations I have made also include her skills that she needs to improve and work on them. Initially when I start observing her I judge her basic nature and interests. Further I noticed her in capabilities and weaknesses of personality. In the later discussion I will highlight the points on which her personality needs to get groomed.

Discussion

The interesting fact that I have observed during the analysis are;

Favorite subjects of the Girl are Social Studies. She is a talented artist as well. She loves to study Social Studies because it talks about the history most of that her native town Mexico when appears in the study, she enjoys studying that topic. The Girl is crazy to learn the knowledge about the history of U.S. she is the one who understands the cultural differences and seek the knowledge to learn more about the U.S ways of learning. Most of the time she stays quiet.
