Introduction

This paper intends to explore the concept of flexible schedule. This is an argumentative paper, thus for this purpose I have chosen to favor the theory of flexible schedule. Many businesses are against flexible schedule since it may affect their productivity. Particularly in banks where the working hours are fixed thus, staff is required to perform their task in the given fixed time frame. However, analysts have researched this subject matter and it has been investigated before and compared to review the outcome of work places with flexible schedules with the one who have fixed schedules. In the following paper various reasons are examined and discussed as to why flexible schedule should be preferred and implemented in the corporations.

Discussion

Working in a flexible schedule provides numerous advantages to both workers and managers. A flexible schedule does not mean they work fewer hours, but it is the worker who organizes their working day according to their needs and those of the company. The flexible schedule is a particular way of performance of the work. It applies when the worker is allowed to choose the start time and end time of work during the day, within certain fixed limits. For example;

Beginning work: 8:00 to 9:30

Lunch hour: 12:30 to 14:00

End of work: 17:00 to 18:30

The worker could, for example, start working on 8, making a lunch break from thirteen to fourteen. Further, he may finish work at 17, for a total of eight hours per day. Another day, the same worker may start work at 9, making a lunch break from 12.30 to 13.30 and finish work at 18.00. Sometimes an employee can also give a number of hours of daily work less than 8 hours with compensation for all hours worked per week, or more rarely, the monthly. In this case we speak of flexible bands, in practice, the worker chooses the time of entry and exit to suit your needs within the limits set by the company. According to an analysis of 10 studies on 16,600 U.S. workers, people who have some control over their working hours may be healthier both mentally and physically than those who have less flexible work.

The researchers found that certain work conditions that gave employees some control, and managed schedules or retire gradually or in part, were associated with health. Some of the advantages were stable lower blood pressure, stable heart rate, better sleep quality and less fatigue during the day.

Thus, the researchers agreed that "having control at work is good for health". Dr. Clare Bambra said that according to the established hypothesis reduced stress can provide benefits, although there are other possibilities." The specialist explained that a flexible schedule might, for example, make it easier for people to find time to exercise, which would directly benefit their health.
