Introduction

One of the most important branches of modern technology is the technology of food. In past decades, scientists, technicians and engineers have spent a lot of money and energy in conducting research in the supply of ingredients, packaging materials and the improvement of machinery and equipment. The results of this research have shown that food processing encompasses not only the quality of the raw materials, the manufacturing process, the chemical change in the storage process, and microbial enzyme function, packaging and consumer preferences, but also the machinery and equipment used in food processing. According to the current market trend, the automatic processing of food is the most practical method of food processing, not only because it increases the efficiency of the product, but also because it is more hygienic. In this paper I am going to discuss about one of the important food item Fruit juice.

The production of fruit juices has increased rapidly in many countries in recent years. Sufficient amount of attention has been garnered by fruit juice industry as compared to soft drinks industry and it has shown growth over past few years. Moreover sparkling juices which contains natural sugars and are free from high fructose have replaced aerated soft drinks. Economic results have shown robust increase in the consumption of fruit juices. Some factors that contribute to the development of this industry are (Crowell, 1999, 775): (1) Improvement in the method of manufacturing and developing better processing equipment. (2) A better knowledge in the use of ingredients. (3) Programs extensive advertising and marketing. (4) Maintenance of the composition, nutrition and bacteriological quality of the product as well as healthy and enjoyable products. (5) Improvement of packaging and distribution method with better storage at home.

Fruit juice is nice, nutritious, healthy and relatively cheap. The economic importance of this industry is set for its food value taking into account the scientific knowledge gained in the production and marketing of fruit juice. Standard products fruit juices are being modified, the trend has a strong emphasis on quality. The conservation of energy, waste control and manufacturing efficiency presents a significant challenge to the fruit juice industry. Also, as living standards around the world continues to grow, demand for fruit juice also continues to increase (Moore, 1995, 9). Consequently, investment in this processing plant juices could be very profitable. In this paper I am going to discuss fruit juice industry of Australia in which I shall be giving brief overview of the industry along with internal and external environmental analysis of the industry. In addition strategic analysis of two companies shall be done and in the end recommendations according to the situation will be given. The purpose of writing this paper is to let readers know about the growth of Australian fruit juice industry and overall market of juice industry of Australia.
