Introduction

Obesity and overweight is basically a nonstandard or heavy fats accrual, which is a big threat for an individual's health. Obesity is an overindulgence of whole body fats. It is heavy accretion of fat in one's body to such extent, which swiftly increases one's risk of having diseases, which is harmful for health.

If a person's weight is 20% or more than normal weight, he or she may be considering as obese (WebMD, 2012).

Overweight and obesity, both shows the measure of weight greater than normally calculated for a given height. For adults, overweight and obesity can be measured by taking a number from the weight and height calculation. This is known as Body Mass Index (BMI). It is the most common measure index for obesity. The use of BMI is because; it is associated with the body fats one has possessed. It is used to determine if ones weight is in a healthy range. The formula for calculating BMI is:

According to World Health Organization (WHO): (WHO, 2012)

An adult who has a BMI between 25 to 29.9, is overweight

An adult who has a BMI of 30 or higher is obese

An adult who has a BMI below 18.5 is underweight

An adult who has a BMI between 18.5 to 24.9, has healthy weight

Obesity has become a more widespread and common health problem in many countries. Overweight and obesity are major reasons for the number of never-ending diseases including:

Diabetes

High blood pressure

Coronary heart disease

Cholesterol

Cancers

Liver and gall bladder disease

Respiratory problems etc...

Since overweight and obesity was an issue only in high income countries, but now it also has become a big issue in developing countries. Such countries are facing over load of diseases. Obesity and under nutrition frequently subsist alongside within the same country and this double burden, originated by inadequate young child nutrition track by revelation to high fat, energy dense, and lack of physical bustle. Here, I mention some causes of obesity.

Causes of obesity

Obesity can also be hereditary, or it can be develop from overeating, inequity meals and lack of physical activity. The main reason of its presence is energy imbalance and difference between calories intake and calories spent. A number of aspect take part in obesity, and it is a difficult health concern to deal with - actions, surroundings, society, socioeconomic status and hereditary factors in disarray such as Bardet-Biedl syndrome and Prader-Willi syndrome - all play a part and may have people to be overweight and obese. Now days, our lifestyle have become changed completely like use of readymade low energy food items has increased rapidly which contains high fats and calories, that cause obesity. Our physical activities are also decreasing day by day like car journeys have replaced walks, more use of machines instead of physical work and more use of energy supplements.
