Introduction

Health and Human Services (HHS), was initially a department commonly known as Health, Education and Welfare abbreviated as (HEW), but later on 4th of May, 1980, it was officially the Department of Health and Human Services. It is a department and agency found in United States, whose primary purpose is to looking after the health and safety of the citizens and improving it. As health is one of the most important aspects of the society, it should be given special importance and considerations. Perfect health conditions should be provided to the citizens of the country in every walk of life. Every single person in the country has the right to live provided with medical facilities. As today, inflation has hit so many countries, people are unable to manage their expenses. The low income people can't afford good medical care and treatment due to the high prices. In such cases, the Human and Health Services department and its functions come into action (Bolland and Wilson,1994).

The mission of Health and Human Services department is enhancing the wellbeing of the citizens of United States. This enhancement is done by providing effective health care for the citizens, through the use of advanced medicines and social services. The government supports the Health and Human Services department by providing it with the necessary funds required to fulfill all its duties and tasks. These funds and the related amount is written in the yearly budget of the country. No discrimination is allowed in terms of providing medical care to the patients of the country on the basis of language, race, color or religion (Bolland and Wilson,1994). Everyone is ought to be treated equally, by providing treatments according to their illnesses.

The vision of the Health and Human Services department is to help in the betterment of the nation by looking after the health of the citizens. This increases and enhances the productivity of the individuals, families as well as communities. It improves the health conditions of the country by providing advance medical techniques for public health and safety. The department has been looking and working on its vision statement since its beginning, and its aims have been getting stronger (Wickizer et.al, 1993).

Human health has always been a matter of consideration in nations like United States. It gives special attention and importance towards the health of the citizens. For this purpose several hospitals are formed which provide advanced medical services to the patients and look after their health. Every individual in America can avail the hospital care, as it is considered to be their right. The United States is well known for its medical hospital and services around the world.
