Introduction

The emergence of the America hegemony had existed on both the National and International stage, even before the Second World War, the war provided US with the opportunity to establish its dominant global hegemony. The foundation of the US hegemony was not limited to the traditional aspects of economic, political and military dominance alone. The American ideology and culture also played a crucial role in establishing its role as the dominant power in the world. The US dominance has historical implications rather than only the social and political factors (Smith, 2003). The progressive development that America has experienced over several decades can be attributed to the advantages it enjoys, through the positioning of the country in the historical context.

The American settlers that initially landed on the shores were a consequence of the English imperialistic forces. Hence the initial American settlers already possessed the superior English culture and knowledge. These settlers used this advantage, and through an imperialistic attitude gained control over the Native American land. They took control of the resources available in the country and established their culture as the dominant force. The strategic geographical positioning also helped America, to isolate itself from the issues of the European countries. It was at an advantageous positioning of being involved with the economic growth of the Western world, without being implicated in the wars (Payne, 2012).
