History of the Middle East

Abstract

This study has been conducted to explore the history of the Middle East. The Middle East has confronted numerous regional conflicts; wars, rapid shift and alliances and alignments, and constant intervention by the superpowers have wrecked the region. The primary focus of this research is to shed light on the first intifada conflict and to analyze its consequences. Finally the research describes various factors which were responsible for the first intifada. The first Intifada conflict was a protest movement started by Palestinians. This movement was started against Israeli rule. The purpose of this movement was to establish a Palestinian homeland. The first Intifada caused resulted in both civil destruction and humanitarianism.

History of the Middle East

Introduction

The Middle East is a cultural designation for a civilization which is not only present in that region but also in a number of neighboring Muslim localities for instance Morocco, Sudan, Libya and others. The geographical features of the Middle East have fascinated historians since many years. The strategic location of this region has magnified its importance. The Middle East is located between Africa and Eurasia. It is between the Mediterranean world, between Asia and India, and between the Far East nations of China and Japan. The seeds of conflict in the Middle East lie in the past so in order to analyze the history of the Middle East, it is imperative to study its past. It is importance to study to the history of the Middle East in order to gain knowledge of the modern Middle East.

As Palestinians and Israelis became engaged in bilateral tasks in the past decades, they confronted several challenges. These challenges have halted efforts they made for peace. Due to the unequal distribution of power between Palestinian and Israelis and occupation of Israel's military, there was a collapse of all plans made to resolve the conflict. The first Intifada is a popular uprising of Palestinians against Israel. The Intifada quickly developed into a well-organized organization. This organization was orchestrated by the PLO. The first Intifada erupted in 1987 when Palestinians were exasperated beyond their endurance. They decided to launch massive protests. The protest by Palestinians soon turned into violent confrontations.

The Middle East is also known as the cradle of civilization. It is because the first recorded human civilizations lived in Iraq. Since then, the Middle East has become an epicenter of religion, culture, and conflict. For much of its history, the Middle East has been ruled by powerful empires.
