Summary

Lack of an integrated approach to the theory of human behavior in an industrial environment forms an unresolved problem for psychology as a discipline. People behave as a set then we have only local micro-models to explain the specific behavior in limited circumstances.

The lack of an integrated model makes it difficult for non-psychologists, usually those who wish to use the valuable information contained after more than 100 years of study to understand how human behavior is explained and can be directed in an industrial environment.

Introduction

The nature of high reliability organizations work environment that has the ability to be very dangerous. Managing these risks, to reduce the risk of accidents dictates how to do most jobs. Support for the individual worker, or there is usually a guarantee of engineering management systems, competency programs, as well as rules and procedures. However, despite these preventive mechanisms of the accident has occurred and the tragic remains an open question, why? Studies of a number of high-risk, high reliability industries have shown that the human factor causes include about 80% of accidents (Orasanu, 1993).
