Information system (IS) is the backbone for productive managerial decision-making. Intervention of Information Technology (IT) for effective decision-making is quite appreciated by many. However, perception of effective management of information through IT has proved non-remunerative for many organizations where proper care has not been taken to map the deliverables of IS vis-à-vis the organization's goals. In the event of organization's growth, demand on IS grows and becomes more complex (Clifton 1994 54). If information systems are not aligned to the processes of the organization properly, the result may be destructive and at this point reversal of the decision to invest on IT becomes infeasible.

Quite often, it is experienced that there is a tendency to ignore such an attempt for alignment. Management of Information Systems (MIS) is therefore, a critical issue before strategic decision-makers to create an ambience for IS-IT alignment in the organization. Though an IS manager has specific role in the process of IT intervention, other managers have equal or more responsibility of understanding the intrinsic issues of such interventions for the improvement of a process. Given the fact that IS in development organizations are no less complex when compared with that of business oriented organizations, it is imperative to approach systematically to IT acquisition. If ignored, many organizational shocks are bound to come.
