Interview Summary and Initial Program Evaluation

Introduction

Metro School is located in North Carolina. Metro School hosts more than 570 children, both with and without disability. The school is headed by a principal and has 46 teachers and other stakeholders. There are various activities that take place within the school; my greatest concern was with the program for the disabled children within the school. My concern is centered on the organization, leadership, curriculum development, instructions, staff development, school climate and assessment as it relates to appropriate education for to the disabled children's opportunity. To ascertain these factors in this school, an interview was conducted in the form of a survey with some of the stakeholders within the school.

Interview Summary

The survey inteview was conducted with the different stakeholders in the school, which include a School administrator and the director of special education the school administration. My question began with question regarding the organization of the school which related to the educational philosophy's design to meet the specific needs of its children. I followed up with questions about the knowledge base of the principal regarding the understanding of legal practices and procedures for providing appropriate and quality education for exceptional students in the school.. I noted that children with disabilities here have access to appropriate public education that involved special education and the services designed to meet the educational requirements for disabled children. The schools slogans were clearly stated and implemented.

I interviewed the other school administrators on the principals leadership qualities, specifically on his values beliefs and personal characteristics to inspire other stakeholders to accomplish the schools mission and his demonstrated skills that can enable the school to reach its goals and whether if he shares responsibilities among all members of the school community. They were satisfied with his leadership characteristics and skills but not how he shares the responsibilities. He holds into much authority and does not want to delegate it to anyone else. On networking he has been collaborating with the district office to help him with expertise know how on how to implement the requirements. But he did not share the knowledge with regular teacher

As I examined the curriculum structure it revealed that the in structural programs towards achieving their clearly defined curriculum goals and schools objectives. The curriculum used a defined frame work and direction for teaching and learning for both the disable children and their counterparts coherently. Meaning the all stakeholders associated with students of special needs, were aware of the IEP and the how to implement it within their classroom instruction. Though there was an concerns with the financial and material resources in the schools. But the school uses effective instructional practices using variety of approaches directed to all children and to the disable in particular.
