Introduction

A peer-to-peer distributed network architecture is composed of participants that make a portion of their resources (such as processing power, disk storage, and network bandwidth) available directly to their peers without intermediary network hosts or servers. Peers are both suppliers and consumers of resources, in contrast to the traditional client-server model where only servers supply, and clients consume.

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Peer-To-Peer Network

The concept of P2P is increasingly evolving to an expanded usage as the relational dynamic active in distributed networks, i.e., not just computer to computer, but human to human. Yochai Benkler has coined the term commons-based peer production to denote collaborative projects such as free software. Associated with peer production are the concepts of:

peer governance (referring to the manner in which peer production projects are managed)

peer property (referring to the new type of licenses which recognize individual authorship but not exclusive property rights, such as the GNU General Public License and the Creative Commons licenses)

peer distribution (or the manner in which products, particularly peer-produced products, are distributed)

Some researchers have explored the benefits of enabling virtual communities to self-organize and introduce incentives as a resource sharing and cooperation, arguing that what is missing from today's peer-to-peer systems, should be seen both as a goal and a means for self-organized virtual communities to be built and fostered. Ongoing research efforts for designing effective incentive mechanisms in P2P systems, based on principles from game theory are beginning to take on a more psychological and information-processing direction.

The Needs And Importance Of Peer To Peer Network For Champions

The needs for a Peer to Peer Network are that Champions organization have a ten Base T Ethernet cable and an Ethernet hub/ switch. Champions can access some file on the computer as long as it is set to shared folder. It doesn't forever work if the company have lots of computers and works better with two to eight computers. (Ramesh Subramanian and Brian Goodman 2005)

Peer to Peer Networks are uncomplicated and easy to set up and only need a Hub or a Switch to attach all the computers together. If Champions organization have not joined the computers together correctly then there can be trouble accessing certain files.

This is somewhat cheap than having a server. Security is not high-quality and Champions organization can set passwords for files that they don't want individuals to access but apart from that the safety is pretty poor. The structural design of the lay out (How It Connects) is easy. If one computer fails to work all the other computers linked to it maintain to work.

Here are some advantages and disadvantages of Client/Server Networks. A Client Sever Can Be scaled up to lots of services that can also be utilized by multiple users. A client server allows the functions and responsibilities of a computing system. This means that it can update all the computers associated to it. A case of this would be software updates or hardware ...
