Questionnaire is one of the most fundamental components of research methodologies that researchers use to analyse the findings of the study. Drafting a questionnaire requires the researcher to have thorough knowledge about the subject. Today, however, science has supplanted art; a robust literature testing practically all aspects of survey questionnaire design provides strong guidance for researchers. There will be two questionnaires - one related to anti-money laundering law; and the other one will cover the compliance issues related to the banking operations in the Middle East.

For this particular study, a draft questionnaire will be sent to perspective participants, who will be required to record their responses. Professors and other faculty members, with an academic background in Statistics will be contacted and their help will be sought in framing the pre-test questionnaire. The questionnaire will include questions related to anti-money laundering laws and practices within the Middle Eastern region. But before that the questionnaire will be sent to professional bankers and anti-money laundering professionals so that they can give their opinion about the first draft of the questionnaire. Employees working in the banking and financial sector in the United Arab Emirates, especially the employees of Middle Eastern banks will be eligible to give suggestions regarding any changes in the first draft of the questionnaire. The experts involved in banking transactions will also be contacted for guidance regarding the setting of pre-test questionnaire and analysing the same.

Although too voluminous to be summarized here, there are three essential aspects: (1) differences in question structure from open-to close-ended, (2) how event recall and attitude questions are answered, and (3) consequences of the phrasing and order of survey questions.
