Leadership Ethics

Introduction

One of the basic functions of management is leading, and this function of leading is performed by leaders. A good leader knows how to handle diverse members working in the organization. The main purpose of a leader is to lead and motivate employees. This role is of utmost importance in boosting the value of the business because through this role leaders motivate employees and this motivation of employees helps in boosting the value of the business. It is imperative that leaders should perform their task honestly and in an ethical way. The aim of this paper is to explore two different studies on the topic of leadership ethics.

The title of each study

The titles of the two studies selected for this paper are as follows:

Integrating values and ethics into post secondary teaching for leadership development Principles, concepts, and strategies.

Leadership perceptions and integrity.

The authors of each study

The first study conducted by Paul T. Begley and Jacqueline Stefkovich deals with the field of education. Whereas; the second study conducted by Kristel Wouters and Jeroen Maesschalck determines ethical leadership from different perspectives.

Comparison of the purposes of each study

The purpose of the first study is to reveal the application of nature of moral literacy to the development of leadership. Another reason is to explore the procedure for promoting moral literacy through teaching in colleges and universities. On the other hand, the main purpose behind undertaking the project of the second study was that the authors want to measure the role of ethical leadership in comparison of other organizational aspects.

Comparison of the authors' statements of why the study is important

Both the selected studies for this paper are of immense importance. According to the author of the first study, the study is important because it is unique in its content as it applies to the field of education. There is a dearth of literature regarding the topic of leadership ethics in the field of management and the findings of this study would be an indispensable contribution. According to the researchers of the second study, the study is important because, within a single study, the aim of the research is to gauge variegated aspects of leadership and ethics.

Research Questions

The research question of the first study is to know whether the instructional principles are outlined or, not for the integration of values and ethics in the post secondary teaching (Paul and Jacqueline, 2007). The research question for the second study can be explained by mentioning the tested hypothesis in the study. The second study tested following hypothesis (Kristel and Jeroen, 2008):
