This paper discusses the legal and ethical issues that are to be incorporated while making schedules for classroom management. The paper has four scholarly articles describing each of the aspect in summarized form.


Article 1: Legal and Ethical Issues in Classroom Management

Classroom management is an important aspect for creating an effective learning atmosphere for the students. However, sometimes it may lead to crossing over the legal and ethical boundaries of the students belonging to different ethnicities. Some techniques have therefore, not received the acceptability with the increasing number of students who require extreme tactics to manage them (Fowler, n.d). Some schools have tried encouragement of exhibiting ethical behavior, but still there is a controversy over the tactics in many schools throughout America. This may include the following tactics to manage the implications that are imposed because of ethical and legal boundaries.

Corporal punishment

It is not acceptable in public schools. It involves the violent physical assault of a student for his immoral act. Many teachers have been dismissed because of such acts. Teachers are held accountable for threatening their students. However, corporal punishment is still present in many schools and actions are taken to reduce the incidents that are caused by such acts of punishments.

Verbal abuse

School policies prevent the teachers from using abusive language with the students. As there is no such law of stopping the bullying of students, it is prevalent in many schools around the country (Fowler, n.d). According to study survey in 2006, 45% of the teachers in the elementary schools admitted that they bullied their students.


It is a practice of isolating a student because of his wrong behavioral act. This is an act of preventing a student from causing harm to other students and school staff.


It is a method used for holding a child down or usage of restrictive devices. It should be used as the last option.


It can be concluded that classrooms are to be managed in an effective manner (Fowler, n.d). Punishments and restraints only harm a child's capability to grasp what is being taught in the class. When a child is tactically treated, there are huge chances that the child shall not report the same behavior again.

Article 2: Student responsibilities in the classroom

For having a conducive learning atmosphere, each student has to undertake a few responsibilities with respect to the class and must co-operate with the teacher. The teacher has a well-defined set of behaviors expected from the students (Barr, n.d). When a student follows the guidelines of the teachers, the teachers can devotedly teach the students and make it an effective class. There are a few responsibilities of students.

Obey the rules

Teachers define a few rules for the classroom. The teacher must communicate these rules to the students on the very first day. Each student is required to follow and obey the rules of the teacher.
