Legalization of marijuana

Introduction

This paper argues on legalization of marijuana and for this purpose the paper will be a documented based on argumentative supported research. Years before persons didn't believe of marijuana as a hurtful pharmaceutical, but as a very helpful material. In fact here is the thing Every Parent, Teenager & Teacher Should Know about Marijuana. Abraham Lincoln's quote, "Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance (John, 15). Lincoln (who all smoked weed), and tell me that people cannot go about their daily activities if they smoke pot. Even George Washington boosted persons to sow the Indian hemp kernel everywhere. It wasn't until 1937 that marijuana was prohibited for the first time under government law. It was called the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937, marked by F. D. Roosevelt in Pennsylvania. Now as we go in the next millenium, the people of the United States desire that regulation removed. After 5,000 years of health use why should we gaze down on marijuana? It's high time persons recognize the good marijuana does (Baker, 291-298). Are we ever going to glimpse an end to the nearly 70 year vintage prohibition? Let's take a gaze at what's being finished in the U.S. to end this one time and for all.

Lgalization of Marijuana

During the 1970's, eleven states decriminalized possession of small amounts of marijuana. Today 35 states have passed laws supporting the use of marijuana for medical purposes. When smoked, marijuana relieves pain and nausea, stunts the growth of malignant breast tumors, protects the brain cells of stroke patients from being killed off, and helps people suffering from cancer, AIDS, glaucoma, menstrual cramps, and depression. It has also been scientifically proven that marijuana has little to no addictive properties and little potential for abuse. Yet marijuana is still in the same group as LSD, cocaine, and heroine.

The relatively new medical marijuana law, Prop. 215, was passed in California in 1996 by 56% of the voters (Anonymous, 11-13). The initiative states that criminal statutes won't apply to patients, or a patients caregiver, who possesses or cultivates marijuana for the personal medical purpose of treatment for a serious illness, upon the written or oral recommendation of a physician. This is confusing because people who are covered by this initiative are still being arrested and treated like criminals. Let us now focus on one of these patients: Todd McCormick (John, 15).

Marijuana is a drug once viewed by the populous at large as “refer madness”, A March, 1936 Scientific American news item Marijuana Menaces Youth , stated: “Marijuana produces a wide variety of symptoms in the user including hilarity, swooning, and sexual excitement, combined with intoxicant, it often makes the smoker vicious, with a desire to fight and kill.” There has been extensive research disproving this misleading notion, marijuana is currently a very recognizable accepted recreational drug considered among several age groups as fairly harmless.
