Discussion

Consequences of a College Student Cheating On Exams

Cheating is considered to be an unethical conduct by a student. It has been in existence for decades and there are several reasons for such conducts that exist in different forms and types. Also, it is similar to that of unethical decision, cheating has evolved over time and so have the types of cheating, and the related consequences of cheating. Before discussing the consequences of cheating, one must understand the ways and reasons behind it (Kibler, Nuss, Paterson & Pavela 2008). Cheating on exams involves simple and obvious gestures such as craning the neck for peeking at the answers of the student, to sit next to the person, switch papers across the table, pass notes under the table and write notes in the palms of hands or sleeves of shirt.

Cheating is not as obvious and easy to detect as it used to be. Of course, this is specifically because at present, students study in a high-tech environment where majority of information is available online in terms of articles, essays, and others that make it easier and simpler for students to cheat without thinking about the consequences of being caught while cheating (Walworth 2001). Discussing the reasons for cheating, we have realized that the most common reason is the desire for passing the required courses with an acceptable grade. Additionally, it is because of the fact that they want to perform well in the outside world. As almost all employers seek graduates fresh out of college based on their academic excellence among other factors (Kibler, Nuss, Paterson & Pavela 2008). Therefore, student seeking admission for graduate schools might find that a minimum grade point average is essential for this purpose because of which they may find themselves under the pressure of cheating when no other way is available for making the required grades.

Even though I knew it is not that easy, yet it was an available option and there was no harm in trying. I am a journalist and as everyone knows that newspapers, websites and magazines are known for their thankless pay structures (gmprecruit.com). My struggling part will make sense to a lot of people who are in ...
