Introduction

Macbeth is one of the most famous tragedies written by Shakespeare between the years of 1603 and 1607. Macbeth is a tragedy about betrayal and greed. There is no absolute assurance that the tragedy is entirely the work of Shakespeare, as some argue that certain passages could be later additions of playwright Thomas Middleton, whose work, The Witch (The Witch) has many similarities with Macbeth (Jekels, 1992).
