Major Events of World War II

Introduction

In 1939 the Europe dominates the world and its colonies spread across Africa and much of Asia. Three totalitarian regimes dominate Europe: Nazi Germany, Stalinist Russia and Fascist Italy. On September 3 France and the United Kingdom declared war on Germany: it is the beginning of the Second World War. World War II involved more nations and was fought in different theaters and fronts, separated by great distances. Although the causes for the outbreak of hostilities vary on every front, historically, the invasion of Poland in 1939 and the Attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 are considered the trigger of the war in Europe and Asia respectively. In Japan, World War II is often studied together with the Sino-Japanese War or even earlier events, from this point of view, the trigger for the war in Asia would have been the Bridge Incident Marco Polo in 1937 or Mukden Incident in 1931.

Causes of the war in Europe

The Second World War in Europe can be considered a continuation of the First World War, and that this left many unresolved disputes. However, Nazism was not limited to regain the territories lost to the German Empire in 1918, but also planned to annex large tracts of territory in the east, destroying Bolshevism in the process, and encouraged ethnic cleansing operations within the territories occupied by Nazi Germany. The Fascist Italy joined the German effort at the beginning of the war, seeing it as an opportunity to form its own colonial empire.

More dramatic was the rebirth of Poland. Russian spheres of influence and crashed in Poland 1919, as each side tried to occupy as much territory between them, and opened the Polish-Soviet war. Poland managed to avoid defeat in the last minute, and both sides exhausted the cessation of hostilities. However, both Germany and the Soviet Union continued to forward a revision of peace treaties. In addition, as Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia, Poland had significant ethnic minorities in their territories: German, Ukrainian, etc., they did not feel represented by their governments. Eventually, these minorities contribute to the breakup of their states. Although the Triple Entente humiliated Germany, most of the lost territory was very productive, and the German industrial heartland remained intact. This factor, coupled with its geographical position and the size of its population, Germanic nation gave a great industrial potential. By exploiting this to their advantage, the Germans, in the future, seek to recoup their losses.
