Outline

Introduction

We have seen the same needs such as need of acceptance, food, love, support, shelter, etc. However people are different from each other and it is well known that they have different personality and way of contemplating life differently. Psychologists have developed various personality tests in order to know more and more about the personality of a person. Personality Tests are very popular because they are often a key to self-knowledge. A personality test is a standardized instrument or a questionnaire developed to expose or reveal various aspects of character of an individual or psychological makeup. The very first personality test was introduced on 1920s which was majorly developed to help and make the personnel selection process easy specifically in armed forces. These tests recognized character, properties or even empathy of an individual. They are relatively comprehensive and psychologists always strive to find new ways, which would allow a very detailed research of the human personality. In this paper I will be evaluating one of the important personality test Myers-Briggs Type Indicator also known as “MBTI”.

The MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator) traces its origins from more than 60 years, when the psychiatrist CG Jung suggested that human behavior were predictable and not random. From early twentieth century, Katharine Briggs had been conducting a study on the classification of people based on their different lifestyles and providing an idea that each person faces life differently.
