Introduction

The paper is going to discuss the concept of mentorship and mentor. The focus is on the pros and cons on the student integration with the mentorship program and how the students can be facilitated by the mentorship for the nursing practice. However, before getting into the discussion of benefits of mentoring, it is important to understand the concept of mentor and mentorship. The mentor is a person who facilitates, and supports the students in creating a liaison between their academic and professional lives (Anderson,Richmond,2004,291-297). The Mentor provides support, advice, friendship, strength and constructive examples that help to overcome the issues and to achieve personal and group success.

Mentors are people of great knowledge and wisdom who share their experience with younger people serving as support in developing their own capabilities. The interest in mentoring has changed over the period of time. It has been affected by the social and the economic factors (Twigg,2010,33-41). The educational institution and the organization realize that the demographics have changed drastically in the past couple of years as the women and the members of the minority groups joined the workforce in greater numbers. Keeping in view these reasons, mentorship programs were introduced in the nursing, midwifery and the social work so that the students will be make the most of the experience in their professional life.

Question 1: Establishing Effective Working Relationships

Effective working relationship refers to having such integration that the related parties understand each others' position and feelings. The simplest way to analyse what is impart to annoyer group pr person is to ask. In mentorship, asking questions and providing feedback are key to effective working relationship because if communication gap lingers between people, the efforts to mentorship go in vain. For an effective integration of the clinical placements, various factors are required that include engagement of students, team work, learning opportunities, and the skills of the staff. With experience and good work, the relationship between the student and mentor can be controlled (Twigg, 2010, 33-41).

Under mentorship, there are various tasks for example, practical assignments, and modules that are assigned to different groups for example the nurse students or the social workers (Su, Win, Fulcher, Chiu, 2009, 144-159). They are categorized as different groups because they involve varying tasks ranging from the patient care, ethical considerations, and the social activities. These groups are often involved in brainstorming session which accompanies the possibility of a conflict. Nonetheless, the adequate conflict management approach must be selected as per the demand of the nature of conflict for example, if the conflict arises due to the communication gap, the focus must be on improving the mentor and student relationship (Anderson, et al., 2004, pp.291-297).
