Mitigation program

Introduction

Nowadays, disasters are growing and causing high impact on the nation and its people. A disaster is caused because of the change in climate and over-consumption of natural resources. The revolution in the world's climate has generated many kinds of threatening natural phenomena. Another major cause of disasters is the rapid growth of the economy, in which technology has increased the production capabilities, together with the multiplicity of population. Increasing growth in the economy and global environmental changes has induced various natural and man-made disasters, which become more devastating and difficult to handle (Wildavksu 2005). The research paper aims at indentifying the necessary precautions taken by the government body to prevent the effects of disasters.

Discussion

Question 1: How did they generate local support for this project/program?

In order to prevent the disasters occurring in the province of Krabi, it is important to get the support of the local people or others affected by these disasters. The target group of this program includes citizens, patients in the hospital, students, tourists in resorts and tourist entrepreneurs (Beasley et al, 2007).

The authority responsible for the mitigation program has assigned various tasks to different units in order to make the target group aware of the disaster, its possible precautions and to generate the support of the target group for the mitigation plan. Hotel owners are responsible for providing information related to disaster emergency, such as facts about common disaster of the area, how to react when any emergency occurs, emergency numbers and evacuation routes and shelters. Tourism entrepreneurs are responsible for providing information about disaster to tourists. They are required to have brochures on emergency resource guide including all the essential information required when any emergency occurs. Next, tourist guides act as the media between the local authority and tourists. ...
