DEFRA

Introduction

DEFRA is responsible to checking out all the affairs concerning to the health of the human life. Environment and food are the major indicators of healthier life which are the even considered as the key factors in determining the health standards in rural areas. To deal with the rural affairs DEFRA effectively works to eradicate all sorts of threats which come from environment and food. The threat from environment comes when there is danger to the ecosystem and the danger is caused due to unfriendly activities by human which not only dangers the ecosystem but also threatens the health of a human life. DEFRA is a effort to deal with all sorts of threat which can cause harm to the ecosystem. There are number of initiatives which are taken to help and support the intentions of DEFRA. These initiatives include ecosystem services, payment for ecosystem services and other environment friendly activities of the concerned government and organizations.

The purpose of this paper is to enlighten and discuss the operational activities of DEFRA related to the flood management programs. This paper aims to explore risk management initiatives designed and implemented by DEFRA in order to avoid flood and other natural calamities in United Kingdom. Nevertheless, this paper also discusses different scenarios of floods in United Kingdom and compares the effectiveness of programs initiated by DEFRA in order to check their validity to cope with future disasters. The Environment Department (DEFRA) is consulting on guidance to help councils prepare surface water management plans (SWMP) for flood-risk areas. The draft guidance is being tested by six councils preparing pilot SWMP.

Importance of DEFRA

Ecosystem is about ensuring that all factors of the environment in which the human beings develops in a perfect blend. The environment design is the process of dealing with environmental parameters around the time of drawing up the plans, programs, policies, buildings, or products. Hence design environments can be defined as the world of design. Creating the standard environment in which we live involves complex systems of cultural meaning, visual communication and the use of tools, technologies and materials. This paper focuses on the design for environment hierarchy and the limitations and advantages of each approach for achieving Factor 10 improvements in eco-efficiency. Sustainable design and Sustainable innovation two different approaches with respect to the design environment are also discussed here.

Eco design and eco efficiency is to integrate the environment from the design phase of products, whether goods, or services. This integration focuses on a comprehensive and multi environment and is based on taking into account all stages of product life cycle. Eco-design main focus is of prevention or source reduction of environmental impacts (reduced consumption of raw materials and energy, waste, waste. It considers all stages of the life cycle of a product (manufacturing - distribution - use - final recovery) to limit the impact of product on the environment which is a significant challenge that eco design aims to counter. Hence design environment's first substantial limitation is with respect to the environment issue is the occurrence of climate change that is likely to arise during the process of developing everyday new tools, and technologies.
