Abstract- This document provides information on the Network Design and use of a network in common organizational or building structure. The document aims to give explicit knowledge about the network design and its implementation and some light is also enshrouded upon its different methods.

Introduction

Networks are the most important way of connecting computers within the organization. Networks play a vital role in connecting computers inside and outside the organization or a building. The paper serves to provide information about the network designs and their importance. A network style needs an honest understanding of the topologies like a bus, ring, and star, so on. Coming up with a network has got to follow bound rules. The set of rules leading the setup of a network is termed its topology. Ethernet, today is the most used and implemented topology. It consists of peripherals and computers cabled along in specific ways. LAN is comparatively cheaper, straightforward to line up and use, and faster. There exist differed kinds of LAN which are namely Fast Ethernet and Standard Ethernet. Initially, discussing Ethernet and fast ethernet, we will discuss different networking designs and their uses.

Ethernet

Ethernet (Ethernet) LAN networking technology is a computer technology based on the IEEE 802.3 standard developed by the IEEE, which specifies the physical layer connection, the content of the electrical signal and media access layer protocol. Ethernet is the most common LAN technology. It has largely replaced other LAN standards, such as Token Ring, FDDI, and ARCNET [1].

Ethernet is the most widely used LAN technology. Due to its simplicity, low cost, scalability and strong, able to combine well with the IP network, Ethernet technology is used from the internal network to the public telecommunication network field forward.

Ethernet is basically referred to as a standard for transmission of data from local area network. It is observed that an Ethernet network consists of cylindrical cables. In an Ethernet network, all machines are connected to the same communication line.

Fast Ethernet

Many networks today face the crisis of bandwidth; this means that users are looking for performance of 10 Mbps Ethernet forcing too much work adequately supports a network. The effect for users is the declining productivity and poor utilization of the full potential of the network. This crisis of bandwidth is the result of three technological changes: the increase in processor speeds, increased network users, applications and new intensive bandwidth used in the networks. Each of this technological changes offer new opportunities for networking, but these changes also add localized load on the network [3].

Fast Ethernet is a system which can easily accommodate this requirement, with 10Mbps Ethernet communication scheme. In addition, there is 100VG-Any LAN that employs a token ring communication system as a method for performing communication 100Mbps. Fast Ethernet is based on the Ethernet standard for what is familiar to most network administrators.

It can be installed in the existing networks with little or no change in the network infrastructure. Using network adapters running at the ...
