New Technology at Work

Formulate a definition of new technologies at work and the role human resource professionals play in supporting the effective working practices in international organizations.

The new information technologies and communication technologies (ICTs) are defined as "the tools from the new technologies of information and communication" mobile telephony, the computer, software, modems, Internet". Their introduction in the company led the legislature to impose rules to prevent abuse to employers and employees.

A study of the impact of technology on human resource management shows that businesses are increasingly use technology to intelligently manage their human resources. Indeed, technology can have a major positive effect on the various processes of the organization by making them faster and transparent. In general modern technology saves costs whatsoever in salaries, absences and errors in addition to increasing the speed of data processing.

The progress and technological development in recent decades has caused a change in the design and structuring of organizational processes and the relationships established between members of an organization. Tele working, distance education, customer service online, electronic transactions are examples of everyday relationships that have been innovated and improved through the incorporation of a basics i.e. technology. Significant advances in information technology converge, network applications, telecommunications and audiovisual services, all of them offering a wide range of technical computing and automation applications, which by its nature allowed to be used to correct forms, rules or alternative models in production processes, work organization, service delivery and, consequently, overall social structure of the global organizations (Baets, 2008).

Critically evaluate the theories of change in relation to informing the successful design and implementation of technologies in the workplace.

Throughout the twentieth century, universities have systematically developed structures that allow them to add the function generate new knowledge, research into new ways of teaching and the implementation of technology as a means of achieving an efficient and effective knowledge.

A new technology such as computer, Internet and multimedia encourage independent learning and is necessary that it is well structured (Baets, 2008).

The degree and extent of these changes observed in the structure and behavior depend on the magnitude of technological change. Perhaps the technological change more visible in recent years at the universities and colleges has been generated through the efforts of management to extend the use of computers. Most academic organizations now have complex information systems. Therefore, the technology has been considered by many employers as a priority within the change process automation and robotics which represents a closed competition among who demand the use of this technology. The essence of these changes is the search for a new approach to knowledge and tools to produce sensitive changes in the way of doing things.

There are two ways to address the issue. One is to analyze the technological change from the point of view of the results, i.e. considering the effects that it has in the process of competence of a universities and colleges.
